Gym / Fitness
Having tried various styles of gyms (24 Hour Fitness, Gold’s Gym) and boot camps back in the US, the style of working out I am partial to is called CrossFit. I currently am a member of a CrossFit gym in London called Thames CrossFit and love it. When we first moved here there wasn’t anything like it and it’s really only beginning to now pick up in the UK. Having previously been a member at a CrossFit gym in California, Thames CrossFit is really the best one in town, has great trainers and members, and operates quite similarly to how they operate in the states. Highly recommended.
If you’re looking for a standard gym with weight machines, treadmills and the like, Fitness First and LA Fitness are somewhat similar to 24 Hour Fitness in the US. There are slightly more expensive clubs such as Reebok, Virgin Gyms and David Lloyd Fitness Centres. These usually offer more complete health club options.
There are also large “leisure centres” that have swimming pools, basketball courts and tennis. Courtney’s has locations throughout London.
